Overview
Singrauli is a district located in the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh, India.
Carved out from the Sidhi district in 2008, it has emerged as one of the most important industrial
regions in the country, earning the prestigious title “Energy Capital of India”.
History & Origin
The name “Singrauli” is believed to derive from “Singar” meaning ornament and “Gali” meaning lane, reflecting the region’s natural beauty. The area has a rich history with tribal settlements dating back centuries. The modern district was formed on May 24, 2008.

Singrauli is the 50th district of Madhya Pradesh. The district headquarters is located at Waidhan. It comprises 3 tehsils – Singrauli, Chitrangi, and Deosar – along with 3 development blocks.

Located in northeastern Madhya Pradesh, bounded by Uttar Pradesh to the north and east, Sidhi district to the south, and Anuppur district to the west. The terrain includes the Vindhyachal range and the Rihand reservoir.
